We simultaneously embrace the rich traditions and emerging futures of materially-led creative practice.

This role is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative, innovative and passionate academic team, who are committed to bringing their own expertise and professional practice into a learning experience that is diverse, challenging and enables students to think and make across many material approaches. You’ll help students explore a broad range of material techniques and processes to find their own unique creative and critical understanding of contemporary craft.

About you:

● You will have a vibrant, visible professional practice as an artist, artisan, or maker with outstanding knowledge of current cultural and theoretical understanding of the discipline;

● You will have previous teaching experience at a Higher Education (HE) level, having an understanding of how to accomplish tasks and prioritise in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with professionalism and integrity;

● You will demonstrate strong skills and knowledge of administrative software and are able to adapt to new software tools and technologies within your role

About the role:

● Provide undergraduate teaching, feedback and assessment across all levels of the undergraduate degree as well as contribute to teaching on the postgraduate programme in relevant subjects;

● Contribute to the development, planning and delivery of the BA course and its content, ensuring the highest standards of learning and teaching in support of the best student experience;

● Work with the Course Leader for Craft and Material Practices to develop and deliver both technique-specific and interdisciplinary approaches to Craft;

● Develop and support the Course team’s recruitment and retention initiatives as a regular contribution to the growth and diversity of the students studying materially-led creative practice.

In return you’ll get:

● Band 7 – 8, starting salary £20,988 (£34,980 FTE) with annual, incremental progression up to £25,039 (£41,732 FTE).

● 14 (35 FTE) days annual leave per annum, plus bank holidays

● Research, Innovation and Scholarly Activity days

● Access to a supportive Employee Assistance Programme

● Auto-enrolment to a Teachers Pension scheme

● Additional benefits such as a cycle to work scheme and discounted bus tickets
