We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Investment Director with a strong background in the biotechnology industry to lead our investment initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of biotech markets, trends, and technologies, along with a proven track record of successful investment management within the sector. This role requires a deep understanding of scientific advancements, regulatory landscapes, and market dynamics within the biotechnology field.
The Investment Director works closely with the Neom Investment Fund (NIF) and reports to the Sector Head Biotechnology.
Key Accountabilities & Activities:
Develop and execute investment strategies specific to the biotechnology sector, considering scientific advancements, market trends, and regulatory changes.
Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential biotech investment opportunities, analyzing scientific feasibility, market potential, and financial viability.
Monitor and manage a portfolio of biotechnology investments, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial objectives and risk tolerance.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including biotech industry leaders, research institutions, and regulatory authorities.
Lead the evaluation of scientific and technological developments, assessing their potential impact on investment decisions and portfolio performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the commercialization potential of biotech products and technologies.
Prepare and present comprehensive investment reports and recommendations to the executive team and board of directors, highlighting potential risks and opportunities.
Stay informed about industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that could impact biotech investments.
Background, Skills & Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. MBA or CFA designation is a plus
At least 5 years of proven track record in successfully managing biotech investment portfolios, preferably within a venture capital or private equity setting.
In-depth knowledge of biotechnology markets, research methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex scientific and financial data.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships within the biotechnology industry.
Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and manage a team of investment professionals.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating adaptability and strategic thinking.
