About the job:

Teaching Personnel are looking for a committed and proactive Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school in Monmouth to start in November 2023. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience working in a school setting. However, experience working with children in other settings would be accepted such as play scheme, sport coaching, nursery, residential homes and many more. Also, you may have a lot of transferrable skills if you have supported adults within a care setting role such as Support Worker or Care Assistant. As a Teaching Assistant you will support pupils with Additional Learning Needs so experience supporting ALN would be desirable but not essential.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

Supporting the class teacher in managing classroom behavior
Supervising group activities e.g. reading, writing, numeracy
Offering social and emotional support where needed
Preparing the classroom ready for lessons and organising resources
Encourage pupils to interact with the class and engage in activities
Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities

Ideal Teaching Assistant:

Can build positive work relationships with both pupils and adults
Capable of managing a group of pupils and managing behaviour
Previous experience supporting children in a classroom or other setting
The ability to demonstrate active listening skills and strong verbal communication skills
Able to handle situations with empathy and show understanding

Summary:

Pay: Minimum £11.85 per hour
Hours: Full Time, 8:30-3:30
