Job Title:

Safety Specialist – Flight Data Monitoring

The Safety Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day flight data analysis to ensure the highest levels of flight safety and compliance aligning with Qatar Airways standards. The specialist will support the Flight Data Manager in promoting flight safety awareness by notifying any significant flight safety related event trend to address it in timely manner. In this role, you will be expected to have good knowledge of different types of FDM software / tools, data-sets and its respective Dataframe (Logical Frame Layouts). The specialist must have good skills in interpreting complex data-sets which will be contributing significantly to the evolution of the Safety Management Systems by integrating comprehensive knowledge of FDM tools and regulatory requirements. The role involves utilizing Business Intelligence tools to interpret data and support the continuous improvement of our Safety Management Systems, therefore prior Business Intelligence Knowledge is preferred. Specialist should have a good report writing skills and must assist safety management in incident investigations as and when required.

Responsibilities:

Proactive Flight Data Monitoring with an objective of promoting flight safety and ensuring prevention of aircraft incidents / accidents.
Good communication skills with a good knowledge of Recorders, Regulations and FDM tools.
Manage the flight data by ensuring good data capture rate and maximum uncorrupt data downloaded from the flight data recorders.
Coordinate with engineering for issues related to corrupt data or non-transmission of data observed.
Analyze flight data using BI tools to identify adverse event trends, risks, and opportunities for safety enhancements.
Preparing monthly presentation and highlighting the adverse event trends.
Develop and maintain FDM and BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights to key stakeholders.
Collaborate with flight operations, maintenance, and safety teams to integrate FDM insights into operational practices.
Support investigations into flight safety incidents and provide FDM analysis.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to flight data monitoring and reporting.
Stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies in flight data analysis and business intelligence.
Provide training and support to staff on FDM systems and BI tools.
Provide support during safety audits (IOSA, CAA etc.).

Qualifications:

You should have at least a bachelor’s degree and 4 years of job related experience.

Job Specific Skills:

Command of the English language
Should be computer and database literate. Prior experience in use of AQD, Airfase, Aerobyte, Q-Pulse and other similar safety tools will be useful
Must have working knowledge of aviation and aircraft systems
Should be familiar with lesgislation (ICAO, EASA Regulations of FAR and Ops Manuals) and international safety bodies such as IATA, Flight Safety Foundation
Engineering background / Aircraft Engineering background Advanced computer skills
Managerial skills – Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow
