Position Summary
This a fantastic opportunity where you will represent CPW R&D Packaging for the EUR region. You’ll participate in the global technical community while providing packaging leadership to support regional innovation, renovation, waste elimination, and sustainability initiatives. With responsibility for driving a number of regional projects and the development of innovative packaging formats, materials, and solutions with the help of internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring organisation of necessary testing, evaluations, and research, enabling manufacturing experimentation, either physically or virtually.

A day in the life of a Packaging Specialist
- Manage packaging initiatives for the CPW EUR region with speed and agility
- Drive packaging pipeline aligned with global and regional business priorities
- Collaborate with global technical community and cross-functional partners aspire the larger CPW R&D organisation to a greater degree of technical excellence while mentoring other R&D colleagues. Actively supports the York community inside CPW and around the PTC.
- Ensure all CPW and R&D values and safety standards, helps to build positive safety culture within the centre
- Develop external collaborations, build and maintain relationships with key scientific and industrial partners
- Provide effective and sustainable packaging solutions using Best-In-Class standards and specifications
- Suggest critical reviews of scientific/technical content of internal and external projects
- Lead competence development in the field of expertise through training and/or mentoring
- Share knowledge and create networks with other communities of experts internally and externally
What will make you successful?
You will need to be a self-motivated individual who enjoys a challenge and is willing to take ownership of your work. Being a logical thinker, you are highly organised, comfortable with problem solving and have high levels of attention to detail. You will need to be comfortable working with and coaching multiple customers and senior stakeholders providing a high level of support and challenge.
In addition to this you will have;
- Proven experience in packaging development, preferably in a food related environment
- Ability to work across international teams and businesses in a rapidly changing environment
- Packaging technical excellence and strong knowledge of packaging materials (solid board, corrugated, films and flexible laminations), packing equipment (VFFS, HFFS) and print processes
- BSc in Packaging Technology/ /Material Science/Engineering or related subject would be desirable
