Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
The DMAC Project Coordinator/Specialist will oversee executing the coordination of UZIMA DMAC’s day-to-day activities including engagement with data stakeholders within the UZIMA-DS project. He/she will also contribute to implementation of data analyses and AI/ML model development for the UZIMA Hub’s research projects, including contributing to report/manuscript writing. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the DMAC lead to achieve the set objectives of the UZIMA DS project.
Responsibilities:
- Management and coordination of the UZIMA DMAC’s day-to-day administrative and logistical activities including organizing both internal and external meetings.
- Coordinating all data activities with and provide support for the UZIMA-DS research projects, cores, the Chief Data Innovation Office and Dissemination and Sustainability Core data needs.
- Supporting the development and refinement of the UZIMA-DS research projects’ data management and analyses plans.
- Contributing to the application of relevant Data Science tools for the analyses of UZIMA-D research projects as outlined in the data analyses plans
- Supporting the development, refinement and curation of data governance documents and processes to ensure seamless amalgamation of multimodal datasets for analysis and for sharing with the pilot projects and external partners.
- Engaging and maintaining good relations with relevant UZIMA-DS project data stakeholders, including with the DSI-Africa Coordinating Centre through attendance of relevant meetings to represent the study and update on progress.
- Monitoring the DMAC activities to optimize the quality of the project outputs, and adherence to the time schedule, budget, and resource management.
- Developing and production of communication tools and materials dissemination and generating ongoing DMAC reports and documentation of progress, including summary of findings and development of visuals to communicate findings to research project investigators and other key stakeholders.
- Managing research study data documentation related to protocols, training manuals, SOPs and other related materials throughout the project.
- Ensuring compliance to all data policies and guidelines in respect to the University and funding agency and participate in the preparation of DMAC reports and UZIMA-DS research scientific manuscripts as well the academic activates in the department.
Requirements:
- BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or other fields with a strong a quantitative focus.
- Minimum 2-year experience as a project coordinator in health research settings
- Additional training/qualifications in the field of Data Sciences & Data Management
- Training in project management is added advantage
- Reasonable knowledge and experience in data science methodologies and their applications
- Experience working in a consortium consisting of researchers and collaborators
