POSITION SUMMARY:

To accelerate Category Strategy embedding in brand and commercial plans, to actively contribute in developing and deploying category strategy and tactics that meet Shopper needs and to ensure that Shopper perspective and insight are fully reflected in NPPI plans

A DAY IN THE LIFE …

  • Actively collaborate with marketing and sales team of both Grocery and Specialist channels to include category thinking and shopper perspective in brand plans
  • To undertake the detailed Category Assessment in potential Customer, including in store Shopper Insights, to identify/quantify opportunities for growth, to identify the opportunities for improvements in range and space/merchandising and to provide the Customer with regular insights, data and performance tracking on Category performance to enable clear decisions on the category
  • To undertake the Category Assessment across the Specialist Channel to identify/quantify opportunities for growth and to identify the appropriate Category Drivers for the Channel, providing regular insights, data and performance tracking of the Category performance to enable clear decisions on the category
  • To ensure a consistent NPPC approach to Category Planning with potential Customers which leverages industry/NPPC best practices to implement the Category Vision and Drivers across all Channels & makes NPPC the partner of choice for priority Customers
  • Ensure relevant Customer, Channel and Shopper insights are fed into the ICP process to make sure effective executable plans are created.
  • To develop the 1–3-year plan for data, insights, tools & equipment/materials that are needed to enable the implementation of the Category Vision and Drivers and NPPC 5P Plans and to liaise with European MDO/Shopper Insights to ensure that the requirements are met at optimum cost/efficiency
  • To ensure the correct set of KPIs are in place for the business and in each customer so that targets can be set and achievements recorded each year
  • Actively seek best practice across multiple categories and work on ways to apply these practice in pet care helping driver category growth and sustainable advantages for NPPE

What will make you successful…

  • 5+ years’ experience in middle management Sales and/or MDO roles (experience in both areas would be an advantage).
  • Broad and extensive exposure to customers, ideally in a KAM or MDO capacity
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing skills
  • Detailed experience of Category Management with strategic multiple Customers, including successful execution of Category Vision and Drivers through bespoke category planning (range and space) and the development and deployment of MDO tools is essential
