Lead Finance Officer – Tax Strategy & Planning
About the Role:
Responsible for effective tax planning to reduce tax risks, ensuring full compliance with the tax laws for assigned countries where Qatar Airways operations exist, keeping track of Tax Treaties to be entered, ensuring timely payment of tax liabilities and required filing and also other regulatory laws while maintaining confidentiality of QR financial information
Responsibilities:
- Ensure optimal delivery of compliance obligations (both direct and indirect taxes) at destination countries where Qatar Airways operates by closely coordinating the compliance activities with internal and external stakeholders at respective stations.
- Ensure payment of tax related liabilities in accordance with the statutory deadlines through advance planning and effective liaison with the internal and external stakeholders at respective stations.
- Ensure Qatar Airways is compliant with the State of Qatar tax regulations including the deductions and treatment of any withholding tax.
- Assist in negotiating and entering into tax treaties with different countries through the Qatar Ministry of Finance by developing research-based tax position papers to adequately manage our tax exposure.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to implement our sourcing strategy to appoint tax advisors and statutory auditors for our branches in the destination countries to meet the tax compliance requirements.
- Maintain the confidentiality of company information and ensure minimum disclosure while meeting the legal requirements.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to decide the form of registration for new offices to optimize the tax liability and forward planning to meet the compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Global Transfer Pricing Policy in regards to allocation of HO costs and preparation of Transfer Pricing Documentation.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications:
About you
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/ Accounting or equivalent
- Qualification in Accounting/ Commerce/ Finance
- Minimum 4 years of job-related experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- User level experience with ERP modules
Preferred
- Experience working within the aviation industry.
- Experience using Oracle ERP
- Professional Accounting Certificate i.e. CA/ ACCA or CPA
