Lead Data Governance
Role: Lead Data Governance
Location: UAE, Dubai
Duration: 5 months EXT
5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role, preferably with
experience in data Lakehouse environments.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The job holder is responsible to ensure that data within the Lakehouse is managed effectively,
securely, and in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. This role
is essential for establishing and maintaining data quality, enabling data-driven decision-making,
and supporting the strategic goals of the organization. The Data Governance Professional will
develop and implement governance frameworks, policies, and practices that ensure the
integrity, availability, and confidentiality of data assets
The job holder is also a key member of the broader data management group across the
organization and is expected to play an important role in influencing and providing direction to
the wider data management community.
Key Accountabilities of the Role:
Contribute to the development of the organizational Data Strategy and support data
management in line with strategic business objectives and The Company’s cultures and values.
• Responsible for the development and oversight of data governance framework, standards,
practices, policies and processes specific to the Modern Data Platform.
• Anticipate challenges and risks associated with the management of data as a strategic asset and
promote action that produces optimal outcomes.
Core responsibilities:
• Develop a robust data governance framework tailored to the unique needs of a data Lakehouse
environment.
• Define roles, responsibilities, and processes to manage data assets effectively.
• Ensure Data Quality and Consistency
• Implement data quality standards and practices to maintain accuracy, consistency, and
reliability of data.
• Establish data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with
relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PDPL, LAW 45 etc).
• Develop and enforce data access controls and privacy policies to safeguard data assets.
• Manage metadata and data cataloging processes to enable easy discovery and understanding of
data assets by stakeholders.
• Ensure data lineage and traceability to support transparency and trust in data usage.
• Work closely with data users, IT teams, and business stakeholders to align data governance
policies with organizational objectives.
• Define and manage data integration processes to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability
within the Lakehouse.
• Implement data lifecycle management policies for data retention, archiving, and deletion.
• Monitor and assess the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and identify opportunities
for improvement.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to enhance data governance capabilities.
• Responsible for the management and administration of data governance forums and related
input/output.
• Promote sharing and reuse of data assets across the organization
• Manage the development and ongoing maintenance of data definitions, standards, lineage and
other data governance artifacts as part of the data Lakehouse.
Specific Accountability:
• Responsible for development and operational aspects of the data governance framework
related to Data Lakehouse and advising on strategic decisions in line with business priorities and
international best practice.
• Advise on strategic priorities of the Data Governance Office to support all business lines
in meeting their strategic objectives.
• Functions within the framework and boundaries of Group policies as well as overall
organisational and governance frameworks.
• Authorized to take decisions as per the approved authorization matrix.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks.
• Experience with data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross
functional teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
