Institute of Business Administration (IBA) invites applications for Junior Librarian in Karachi, Pakistan
It is an entry-level position, and the incumbent will develop positional and technical capabilities of the libraries work under the close guidance of the Deputy Librarian. The incumbent will carry out the library’s day-to-day professional routines as delegated by the supervisors and actively assist in the effective delivery of essential library services.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the acquisition and cataloguing related activities of library items by performing original or copy cataloging.
- Assist in maintaining circulation records and perform duties at ‘Check-out’ and ‘Ask Us’ desks.
- Actively participate in the delivery of information services by helping staff and students in locating relevant information / sources.
- Carry-out shelf-reading or similar tasks to upkeep, maintain and organize library collections.
- Help with library orientation and in-class information handling sessions.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s in library and information Science (MLIS) or equivalent 16 years of education from a HEC recognized university.
- One year of work experience in an academic library, preferred but not essential.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES:
- Basic knowledge of key functions and use of an integrated library automation system.
- Familiarity with commonly used databases and electronic products.
- Understanding of information searching and retrieval techniques.
- Ability to quickly learn and teach oneself technologies affecting library services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
- Functional knowledge of using computers in the workplace and library setting.
