Job Title:
Corporate Senior Civil Engineer – SEHA – Corporate Facilities & Maintenance
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Supervising the planning and designing of all civil related engineering works | Providing direction and guidance on any relevant drawings Overseeing all planning, designing and directing of civil engineering projects, analyses reports, drawings and other data Assisting the Engineer in calculating cost and determine feasibility of projects Resolving and recording technical queries and items of extended scope of works |
Managing and monitoring day to day activities | Overseeing all activities relating to civil works before, during and after the execution of the projects Monitoring and ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the contract drawings, specification, instructions and programmers Monitoring all planning, arrangement and control of material compliance testing/evaluation and ensuring relevant records are maintained Planning and conducting regular record inspection and test activities for materials and workmanship Approving and assisting the Engineer in resolving all recorded technical queries Assisting and providing guidance to the Engineer in risk assessments Reviewing all drawings submitted by contractors/ consultants |
Communicating and coordinating | Communicating and consulting with other healthcare disciplines and all engineering and risk and safety departments Attending interdisciplinary meetings to provide technical support and advice Participating in joint meetings with members of the Health Authority Engineering Directorate Participating in the development, communication and evaluation of standards, procedures and protocols Communicating and coordinating with local authorities for regulatory compliance |
Overseeing coordination with contractors | Co-ordinating construction work, attends meetings with the Engineer and provide guidance to resolve conflicts between design and user requirements Identifying matters related to faulty construction ensures that appropriate rectification is carried out Checking as built drawing produced by contractors for accuracy and keep records updated |
Overseeing quality control and safety matters | Supporting the Corporate Facilities Maintenance Director by ensuring that all civil engineering and related activities are carried out in accordance with SEHA safety and management standards, policies and procedures, statutory and contractual requirements Ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the approved drawings, specification, instructions and programmers Assisting Corporate Facilities Maintenance Director civil section in the planning and preparation of permits to work and task risk assessments Participating in the development, communication and evaluation of standards, procedures and protocols Performing other professionally related duties as required |
Contributing to team effort | Participating in cross-functional teams and committees as appropriate Developing and enhancing team procedure manual and processes and discussed with seniors Managing his/her subordinates and ensuring team development and complaint resolution, setting KPI’s for direct reports and conducting performance appraisal and driving motivation levels of direct reports Assuring Engineers and inspectors complete work on time and effectively Overseeing work assigned for enquiries and inspections |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complying with Policies, Procedures and Practices of the SEHA facilities and other regulatory requirements | Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames |
Maintaining Confidentiality | Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with facility policy |
Promoting Customer Service standards | Assuming the role of a brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic responsibilities of the role |
Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety, Materials Management and Maintenance standards | Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies |

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or in a relevant technical discipline OR Diploma in relevant field with 3 years of additional experience
