Job Title:

Aircraft Scheduling Controller

Job Purpose:

To coordinate and manage the Airbus or Boeing fleet daily changes and aircraft schedule movements resulting from the maintenance requirements of the fleet. Ensuring that the maintenance and commercial plans are balanced so that any disruption to the Emirates commercial programme is minimized. To proactively propose and deliver aircraft planning solutions and contingency plans to the VP-NCC, DOCM, and the Aircraft Scheduling Manager, coordinating the planning solution across all NCC stakeholder departments, ensuring that operational disruptions to the fleet are mitigated and all commercial issues identified in relation to the medium and long range plan are escalated to the Aircraft Scheduling Manager for action.

Job Outline:

  • Represent the department at the bi daily Operations Control Management meeting to discuss all maintenance and aircraft availability issues with departmental heads and Vice President Network Control (VPNC). Coordinate activities arising from the daily morning engineering briefing meeting. Prepare scenarios for review by the Aircraft Scheduling Manager that can deliver alternate solutions to accommodate Engineering requirements within the Commercial Operating Plan. Monitor operational and maintenance requirements. Coordinate optimum aircraft utilisation and avoid / minimise operational and engineering disruption. In the case of critical operational eventualities (e.g. urgent/ time limited maintenance requirements, Aircraft On Ground) provide proactive and reactive solutions in conjunction with the Aircraft Scheduling Manager, VPNC, the Duty Operations Shift Manager (DOCM) and Commercial Planning.
  • Present Monthly Aircraft Movements to the Aircraft Scheduling Manager for review. Prepare and review Daily Aircraft Allocation to ensure accuracy and validity of plans. optimum utilisation of maintenance check frequencies, compliance with legal limitations, proper staggering of maintenance inputs, inclusion of all relative aircraft registrations and accurate and error free information prior to dissemination within the Emirates network.
  • Liaise and coordinate actions arising from Aircraft Scheduling and Maintenance planning teams with Commercial Department for inclusion of additional flight and engineering requirements into the operating plan. Present all plans to Aircraft Scheduling Manager to ensure revenue optimisation without compromising maintenance ground time availability for multiple fleet aircraft types / sub types and operational conflicts.
  • Coordinate on behalf of the Aircraft Scheduling Department within Engineering Planning or Operations Control for communication with internal and external parties such as Maintenance Sections, flight Operation, Crew Training, Corporate Communications, DNATA, lessors, vendor representatives, third party maintenance agencies for allocation and coordination of necessary activities/ maintenance requirements/ aircraft ground time. Liaise with EK outstation support, Engineering stores and Line maintenance support to ensure all outstation engineering activities are coordinated and supported.
  • Prepare all scheduled maintenance plans including the Heavy Maintenance Plan (HMP) the Quarterly Maintenance Plan (QMP), Special Project Plans (e.g. major modifications, Landing Gear overall, aircraft painting) in conjunction with and as advised by Planning Engineer/ Manager Maintenance Planning to ensure long term maintenance requirements are established, check intervals are optimised and check limitations are met.
  • Ensure all data required for statistical analysis and report creation by Aircraft Scheduling Manager is updated and is current and accurate. This data is required for the Fleet Operational details of the fleet in terms checks forecasted, average Aircraft Daily Utilisation for Flight Hour, Cycles and Ratios. Coordinate long term forecasting and planning activities including preparation of Aircraft Weighing plans and status report.
  • Monitor and review MEL deferred defects assigned to Aircraft Scheduling Group at defined intervals and provide efficient and effective solutions, support and co-ordination for the remedial action ensuring availability of necessary ground time, resources and hangar capacity.
  • Maintain and present improvements to standard rules, constraints and guidelines for use by subordinate and new starter personnel in the preparation of the daily allocation plans and coordinate with departmental managers to provide continual updates of fleet complexity.
  • Supervise and train where required new start Aircraft Scheduling Officers to facilitate knowledge dissemination and skill improvements within the team. Support the ongoing personal and professional development to the Aircraft Scheduling Officers. Ensure the elimination of inefficient methods and implementation of departmental improvements/ system changes to drive a continuous improvement culture within the department. This involves carrying out and setting PM Review objects, review meetings and development meetings where assigned to aid the personal development of the staff and the Controller.
  • Support and develop systems that enable the department to carry out the main work functions, such as heavy maintenance, aircraft scheduling, and external cleaning planning.

Qualifications & Experience:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Degree in Aviation Management

Experience:

  • Engineering. Planning : 5+ Years

 Knowledge/skills:

  • Fully conversant with aircraft documentation and records including AMM, IPC, Work Packages and Maintenance Schedules.
  • Understanding of Aircraft/ Powerplant systems and components. 
  • Sound knowledge of Computer Applications (e.g. MS Office). Knowledge of Movement Control Systems (e.g. CORE) and maintenance and aircraft scheduling systems (i.e. AMES / Airflite) is an advantage. 
  • Familiar with aircraft regulatory requirements and legislation.
